Our
Mission

Our growing residential community, The Falls, literally sits on land immediately adjacent to the historic Bancroft Dam 4.  The footprint of our building is the original location of the historic Bancroft Mills.  For us, the historic Bancroft Dam stands as one of the last surviving elements within the Bancroft Mills historic district.  Indeed, our community was named in honor of the falls adjacent to the property.  Our mission is to come to an amicable agreement where we can retain the history and fish passage can be achieved by another method rather than dam removal.

Others Supporting Our Cause

Join with the Brandywine Preservation Group and others who are doing all they can to preserve the historic Brandywine River dams.  In their view, these landmarks are a living legacy of the community of people, workers and families who have occupied these riverbanks for over a century.  If we don't act now, future generations will never experience the sights and sounds of what made our city and state so important.

How the Public Can Help

We must be sure that The Falls residents and members of the public who frequent the Alapocas Run State Park have a voice in what happens to the dam.  This will affect all of us, and once a dam is removed, there is no going back.

View from Alapocas Run State Park

Members of the public who frequent Alapocas Run State Park often stop at this lookout.  Many will snap a picture, take a video, or just enjoy the sound of the waterfalls rushing by.  The Falls buildings were built to look not all that different from how the original Bancroft Mill buildings once looked.  The view along this part of the Brandywine River is a breathtaking panorama only found along this relatively small part of the river.
